I hadn't ever left Lucas for a night until this weekend. Up until I did it, I was constantly going back and forth as to if I REALLY wanted to do it or not. However, I needed a break. I knew this because of the meltdown I had the weekend before. Lucas had been a mess for 3 days in a row and then the weekend hit. At that point, I knew I needed a break and it was obvious to everyone around me that I did. My husband and sister did their best to give me the break I needed. It helped some but I still just felt worn down. I felt terrible about this because I didn't want to leave him for a whole night and I hate admitting when I need help.
Lance and Jennifer convinced me to do it. Up until the time it happened, I still wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it or not. Leaving him during the day is one thing but the night is a whole different story for me. I think the reason I was able to do it was because I truly knew I needed a break.
We have many people around us that are more than willing to watch Lucas if we need them. We know this and are truly grateful to have so many people that support us. We left Lucas with my parents. We were in Manhattan for the evening celebrating my birthday. After dinner we went to my sister's place to have cake and stuff. By the time my parents got home with him it was way past bed time but he was good. I know this because I probably text them a million times and if they wouldn't have answered my texts...I would have called them until they were crazy.
Lance and I headed home. We gave Milo some much needed lovin and headed to bed. Exciting right? Not really but that's what I wanted. The house was silent and as much as you want that sometimes, it's overrated. I slept decent but truthfully sleep better when Lucas is home in his bed and I can go look at him whenever I want. The next morning we were more than ready to pick Lucas up. I felt refreshed and ready to go! As grateful as I am that we have people to help us out when we need that...I won't be leaving my baby again for the night until I have to!
