Let's Eat Out

For the first 5 months of Lucas' life it was so simple to take him out to eat with us. We would just bring along the car seat and most of the time he'd sleep through dinner. If he did not sleep, he would eat and just hang out. It was awesome.

Since he is now about 7 months old things have changed. He now sits in the high chair and I bring along his food so he can eat with us. He won't normally last the whole time in the high chair so one of us will end up holding him as we try to keep him from grabbing anything he can get his hands on. He will put ANYTHING in his mouth and throw EVERYTHING on the floor.

Anyway since we've started this stage we have found a few things that have helped us out. I will continue to do these things until I find something that works better or he changes on us. If ya have any helpful advice, feel free to share!
-We now try to go eat when it best fits his schedule. Obviously this is not always possible but we've found that when it is. It helps a lot.
-When we first get to the place and are waiting for our food we will feed him. As opposed to waiting to try to feed him when we are eating and him getting mad because he has to sit there for so long, constantly throwing toys on the floor.
-When our food comes he is normally done eating so we will give him several different toys that he ALWAYS throws on the floor. I don't know how to prevent this if someone figures it out...let me know!
-Baby Wipes are my best friend. Anything that goes on the floor gets wiped off before he gets it back.

These might be "duh" things to some of you but to us it was a learning experience and will continue to be. Just like everything else with babies, this does not always work for us. However, I am glad we are sorta kinda getting the hang of it. I repeat...sorta kinda.

Once we figure something out he goes and changes it on us!
