Last Monday Lucas and I started a 2 week swim class. What a great class it has been! Lucas was actually the youngest baby in it but the age range was 6-36 months. I am super happy that I signed up for this class. I was a little nervous because you just never know how a child will react to things. However, he has always LOVED his baths so we thought there was a good chance of him loving to "swim".
We have learned all kinds of things. How to float on his stomach and back. Although he doesn't like being on his back, he will sometimes tolerate it. They also taught us (the parents) how to best support them while they are on their back and stomach.
They tried to teach them how to blow bubbles but Lucas just wants to drink the water. The class has been held in one little area of the water park but I think it's neat that we have also ventured out to other sections of it. One day we swam around the "river" part. Lucas loved looking at all the cool things around him.
Tomorrow is our last day and if their splash area is working again we get to play their. I've enjoyed the class and being able to take Lucas some where to interact with other children. Although he doesn't interact with them that much, I still like the idea of him getting used to being around other kids.

So fun! I really want to get Sam into a swim class. Are you going to a Y? Ours seems to be a bit expensive ($200 for 10 30-minute classes). Any other suggestions?
