Potty Training

We started thinking about potty training back when I was pregnant with Austin. Of course the dream would have been to have Lucas potty trained before he got here but that did not happen. I tried several different times to potty train him before and then after Austin. Each attempt was not successful.

Then a few months ago Lucas started to do something awful. AWFUL! He started taking his pooh out of his diaper and playing in it. Sigh. It was awful. AWFUL! Did I mention awful? The worst part was, he just kept doing it despite my attempts to keep him from doing it. So I did what any normal person would do, I complained to my friend. She then told me that sometimes that means you need to push potty training. I told Lance and he was sold on the idea.

I on the other hand, had a million reason why I did not want to give it a try again. Mostly because we were going to be traveling soon. Traveling five hours from home. Who in there right mind would want to start potty training right before that? Well...we did.

Lance the potty training start. I thought he was crazy and that it was not going to work and I had my list of reason why but I knew it was time and jumped in with him. That first week had a lot of ups and downs. He was excited about being a big boy but was not sure he wanted to have to do it all the time.

The best part about potty training? No more pooh playing! He instantly stopped this and it only took him a few days to figure out how to go on the potty. Poohing on the potty is evidentially hard for kids but Lucas wanted to do it because his friend was. Thank God for John!! Ever since then he hasn't had a pooh accident in his undies. Can I get a Halleluiah?!

It's been about a month since all this started and I'm happy to report that he is doing pretty good. He still has accidents but honestly he normally does it when he's mad at us for putting him in time out. If anyone has a solution to this, I'm all ears!
