A Weekend In KC

This weekend we headed to Kansas City on Friday. It's a 5ish hour drive. Lucas did really good on the way there. He enjoyed watching his tractor movies and we enjoyed not listening to him scream.

The reason we went to KC was because Lance ran his first half marathon with Mike and Amanda. I didn't get to go watch but we took some pictures when they got back. Sounds like it was a cold morning but everyone did great! I'm so proud of Lance and everything he's accomplished with running. I'm looking forward to watching him run his first marathon sometime in the future.

While these guys were running, I got to watch two adorable boys. They had a good time together and it was fun to watch them interact. Lucas hasn't stopped talking about Isaac. He mostly says, "Eat Isaac" because we ate with them Friday night but it's hard not to laugh at that phrase. They are such active little boys and I was glad when my parents and Bethany showed up for the extra help. Bethany and I didn't take a picture together but we should have! It had been too long since I'd got to see her and I was so thankful she stopped by to chat!

After the race we hung out with my parents and sister. We did a little shopping and headed to a neat little farmstead a friend told me about. Check it out here. If you are ever in the area, I'd recommend it. It was a great place to take kids. Lucas didn't have to be "contained" the whole time and they had some neat things going on. The thing Lucas remembers about it is watching a cow being milked. When I ask him what we did this weekend with grandma, grandpa, and aunt jen he always responds with that.

We were so glad they made the trip to KC to see us for awhile! It was a great weekend and went way too fast. Driving home Saturday evening seemed like the longest trip ever. We were all exhausted from not sleeping much the night before (Thanks Lucas!) and Lance was sore from his race. I think we were all happy to get in our own beds when we finally made it home around 11.

Our crew, minus mom who took the pic
